Modern science fundamentally distinguishes itself from all previous traditions of knowledge through three critical characteristics. These observations are then rigorously connected and interpreted using mathematical tools to construct comprehensive and coherent theories, moving beyond qualitative descriptions or narrative explanations to establish a precise and verifiable understanding of the universe.

The third characteristic is the relentless pursuit of acquiring new powers, specifically through technological development. Modern science is not content with merely creating theoretical frameworks; it actively uses these theories to develop new technologies and practical applications. This utilitarian drive ensures that scientific research directly translates into enhanced human capabilities, such as advanced medical treatments, military innovations, and economic tools, continually expanding humanity's ability to manipulate and control its environment.
