This selectivity ensures that interpreters provide unique, challenging perspectives, preventing replication of existing confusion or easily accessible, non-differentiating insights.

Key criteria for selection include the interpreter's domain: 'industry' experts (least novel), 'adjacent' domain experts (potentially interesting for new insights), and 'outside of the network' experts (most valuable for novel interpretations, e.g., fitness equipment manufacturers for food companies). Within these domains, interpreters are categorized as 'direct players' (producing products/services), 'professionals' (conducting research), and 'cultural interpreters' (giving meaning through art/culture).

Further criteria focus on the individual's expertise as a 'researcher on meaning'—someone who empirically analyzes and reflects on how people assign meaning, whether formally or through daily work—and their 'critical' personality. Ideal interpreters enjoy reflecting on the 'why,' ask unconventional questions, offer constructive feedback, and are open to challenge. A balanced mix of interpreters from diverse disciplines, categories, and perspectives (considerate versus venturesome) is crucial for a comprehensive and heterogeneous challenge to existing assumptions.
