Key Insight
● Technology advances exponentially, and things change rapidly. If something works today, it doesn’t mean it will work tomorrow. The skills that today bring you money are not a guarantee for the future.
● Learning is something you absolutely cannot do without in 2024, where we see unprecedented advances in technology.
● Online courses are top-notch, and should be used as much as possible. Many entrepreneurs talk about courses that changed their lives, however it’s very important to carefully choose your mentors, and to be very careful with people who sell you “revolutionary” knowledge and have no credibility. In the gym you shouldn’t take advice from overweight people, so in life you should be very careful about whose advice you listen to.
● Udemy has an exceptionally good ROI, YouTube has many free courses and academic lectures, Coursera as well. Books, of course, and we have a whole section on reading and books.
● Learning - the more the better. In the daily routine there should be at least one hour of learning, and it can be 2. For example, one hour of reading before sleep and one hour listening during training or commuting. Don’t fear applying what you hear in practice even if it might seem a little “odd” to other people. First, it’s important to realize that people overestimate the amount of attention they get from others, i.e., even when you believe people are looking at you and thinking about you, they actually have their own problems and more important things to think about. Second, even if they do think about you, it isn’t that important.
● Podcasts/YouTube courses/Audio books are very undervalued. Over 80% of my learning in the last 5 years has been achieved this way
○ There’s plenty of time in a day when our “hearing” is free, and one hour of listening to knowledge we can practically get for free.
○ Also, we can “compress” that knowledge and listen at speed 1.25 or even 1.5, depending on how fast the speaker talks and how close the topic is to us.
● How do I consume this course?
○ In the morning, first of all, two hours, and immediately implement everything, at a speed that suits you, as long as you maintain 100% understanding. Ideally, after each section take a small break and think about how it can be applied.
○ A little recursively, but you’ll need this course to learn how to consume this course. Ideally you should view it at least 2 times and use it as a reference when needed. My advice would be to read it at least once quarterly, because even if you fix some things, bad habits easily creep back, and also in different phases of your career different topics will be more or less relevant.
○ The course is intentionally designed to be short and the content quite compact, so it can be easily viewed more times. From each topic I carefully selected only the best methods and techniques and brought them into this course. It’s far better to watch a concise version 2-3 times than a long and diluted version once.
