He famously condensed this conviction, stating 'science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind.' Einstein believed scientific theory engaged 'higher spiritual faculties' and that 'true religion has been ennobled and made more profound by scientific knowledge,' insisting a 'legitimate conflict between religion and science cannot exist.' For him, science provided 'a new revelation,' replacing old creation 'fairytales' with an astonishing origin story: all things share a single origin, united in the 'primordial singularity' that exploded in the Big Bang, giving rise to the entire cosmos.

This scientific understanding revealed humanity as 'emissaries of the Infinite' and 'progeny of the primordial singularity,' not exiled but rightful residents of a reality worthy of reverence. The 'picture of the physical universe presented to us by the theory of modern science' evokes a 'contemplative spirit' akin to religious and artistic yearning, often leading Einstein to experience ecstasy contemplating the 'order, the harmony, the magnificence of creation!' The cosmic religion sought a revolution in self-conception, moving from creating gods in man's image to recognizing that humanity reflects the 'resplendent energy immanent everywhere in the cosmos.' Its mandate was to make every person 'more aware' of their 'dignity as a cosmic being' by reminding them they 'embodied Infinity.'
