The Primary Asymmetry in Intimacy

Intimate relationships are characterized by a fundamental asymmetry between masculine and feminine sexual essences. A masculine man's highest priority is his mission, his drive toward greater release, freedom, and consciousness, viewing intimacy as something to be enjoyed in addition to his purpose. If his career or mission is obstructed, he will not feel at ease, even with ample love from his family. Conversely, a feminine woman's core priority is the flow of love in her life, including her relationship with a trusted man. Her core is fulfilled by love, allowing her to thrive despite career difficulties if love is abundant. This distinction means a man's partner is irreplaceable in her perception, as she lives in 'relational actuality', while a man, living in 'relational possibility', might perceive his woman as replaceable and even fantasize about others who might better support his mission.

A woman who attempts to deny her feminine core by de-prioritizing her relationship and focusing solely on her career, believing she must 'live her own life', engages in self-destructive behavior. Regardless of her external dedication, her feminine essence will always yearn for the flow of love; suppressing this can lead to an 'emptiness of heart', depression, and bodily symptoms of disease. Men must not dismiss a woman's relationship-centric focus as unhealthy, as the desire for intimate loving is as central to her life as the pursuit of freedom is to a man's. When intimacy flourishes, it 'colors everything else she does' positively, but when it falters due to feeling unloved or rejected, her day is 'colored by hurt'. For a man, a struggling intimacy might prompt him to seek solace and purpose in his work, as it is just 'one aspect of his life', often forgotten when deeply absorbed in his mission.

Honoring this primary asymmetry is essential for mutual fulfillment. A man's desire for freedom—financial, psychological, and spiritual—is as vital to him as a woman's desire for the magnification of love is to her; both must be supported. Authenticity is crucial; a masculine man will naturally not be as emotionally engrossed in the relationship as a feminine woman, and attempting to fake concern is unproductive. When a man genuinely aligns his life with his highest purpose, he becomes more present, loving, and humorous, which his woman receives first. Similarly, when a woman devotes herself to her true heart desires, her radiance, wisdom, and power inspire and feed the man. Denying these core essences leads to suffering, diminished radiance, and guardedness in intimacy for both partners, irrespective of their external societal roles.
